Lane Profitability Calculator
Enter trip revenue and every cost line (fuel (km × mileage × diesel), tolls, driver, maintenance, EMI, return-leg fill rate) and the calculator gives you per-trip profit, per-km margin, and break-even rate. Compare multiple lanes side-by-side.
How lane P&L is built
Per-trip revenue minus the sum of fuel, tolls, driver allowance, maintenance per km, EMI / insurance prorated, plus the upside of selling the return leg. The result divided by distance gives per-km margin.
The hidden costs most fleets miss
- Tyre wear (₹1.5–₹3 / km)
- Engine oil and consumables (₹0.5–₹1 / km)
- Insurance prorated per trip
- Driver night-halt allowances and detention charges
- Empty running between assignments (dead-head)
Why return-leg load matters so much
An empty return doubles the per-loaded-km cost. Selling the return at 50% rate often flips a loss-making lane into profit. The calculator above lets you toggle return fill %.
